We are wholly inclusive, growing together in Christ through creativity and friendship. We lift up the vulnerable as God’s love brings us together.
The First Presbyterian Church of Phoenixville has been in this community for over 150 years, and we have changed as much as the community has. For the past few decades our focus has been on serving our community, particularly the most vulnerable people, providing food, clothing, shelter, assistance, and belonging. We also have a long-standing focus on music. Our congregation has a wealth of people willing to share their musical gifts, as you will certainly hear when you worship with us. We are a welcoming community to individuals of all ages and to those who find themselves deeply spiritual and religious as well as those who are still finding their way in faith.
As a congregation, we are committed to egalitarian leadership and the ordination of women and LGBTQ folks as pastors, Elders and Deacons, and our membership includes persons in same-gender relationships. Our Session, or governing board, includes six men and six women. We also have a history of support of refugees and asylum-seekers through organizations like the Phoenixville Area Refugee Initiative. Over the past year, we have been working to become more antiracist, intentionally building on our history of collaboration with African-American churches.
