Every church is different! If you are coming to our church for the first time, you may have some questions. If your questions aren’t answered here, don’t hesitate to contact us.
How should I dress?
You will find that our church community is comfortable dressing in many different ways. You will find some people dressed in jeans and T-shirts, while others wear their Sunday best, and everything in between. We welcome you to dress however you feel most comfortable.
Where should I park and where do I enter the building?
When you first arrive at our church, you will want to park in the parking lot across the street from our sanctuary. There is also street-parking available – just make sure to read the signs about how and when it’s appropriate to park. Once you park, you can head straight through the sanctuary front doors where you will be welcomed by our greeters and given information about the service. Then you can find a seat where you feel most comfortable in our sanctuary main floor or in the balcony.
What is the worship service like?
Our Sunday worship service is what we call a “blended” service, meaning that it follows a traditional worship order but includes a lot of contemporary and eclectic music. This is because our folks enjoy a wide variety of worship styles – some love the oldest hymns from our pipe organ, and others love contemporary Christian music from our Praise Team. Others like all of it, but we always focus on providing beautiful music for worship. There is also a children’s time, after which younger children are welcome to go up to the Nursery and older kids can stay in worship or go to Sunday School during the school year. Our service lasts about an hour and fifteen minutes on average. On or near the first Sunday of each month we share Communion, and everyone is invited to participate if they choose.
Are there any classes for my children during the service?
There is a Nursery for smaller children (five years old or younger), but we encourage older kids to stay and be part of worship with us. It’s important to us that children feel welcome. We also know that having kids in worship can sometimes be a challenge for parents, and so we are working on ways to help, including inviting the kids to participate in different parts of the service each week. Sunday school classes for all ages start after the children’s message and go until the end of worship.
What if I have a question on Sunday?
Our greeters are Deacons in the church, and can answer a lot of questions. Other leaders in the church also wear name-tags, so if you see a name-tag, you can go up to that person and ask any question. After the service, the pastor greets everyone by the main doors, and he is happy to answer questions then – or over lunch after church!
