Sue Smith has been our church secretary/office manager since November of 2006.
Sue has a part in almost everything that occurs in the church. From greeting everyone that enters the church office, to answering the phone, arranging church rentals, generating the weekly worship bulletins, coordinating use of the many rooms in the building, paginating the monthly newsletter, liason between the church and Mom’s House, WIC, AARP and all the many other groups that use the building during the week. Whew, it’s no wonder she’s tired when she gets home.
And when she’s home, she’s usually only home for dinner and then she’s off to a meeting or doing volunteer work.
Sue is the captain of her Relay for Life team. Her team has raised just over $80,000 in 13 years!
She is currently the Marching Band Administrator for the Cavalcade of Bands Organization. Sue is responsible for scheduling all of the fall marching band competitions. She is also the show coordinator for the championship show held at Downingtown HS in November. There are approximately 60 bands that compete over two days with 20,000 spectators, 8 vendors, 24 judges and 30 show volunteers that Sue must coordinate.
Cavalcade of Bands is also the same organization that took 154 students to the Tournament of Roses parade in 2015. Sue was on the administration committee and processed all of the trip payments. Hopefully, she’ll be parading down Pasadena Boulevard again on New Years’ Day 2018.
Sue has a BS in Business with a concentration in Management from West Chester University. She has been married to Paul for 32 years. They met while marching in the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps. (She has a thing for drummers.) Sue taught colorguard for 30 years. She has a son, Kevin, who works at Pepper Music Co. along with her husband Paul. She also has a daughter, Heather, who teaches elementary music in the Cumberland Valley School District.
Sue and her family are all members of the First Presbyterian Church in Pottstown.
